Kris Singh: SRII President

Kris Singh is the Director of Strategic Programs for Service Research at IBM Almaden Research Center in San Jose, CA. Kris has over 25 years of experience in the high technology industry as well as in academia. Before IBM Research, he has worked with Intel, AMD and National Semiconductor in various technology development roles such as Director of Server Architecture & Planning and Data Center Technology at Intel, Director in the CTO Office at AMD and senior technical management roles at National Semiconductor.

Kris is an Industry Fellow in the College of Engineering at UC Berkeley, CA and has also been an adjunct professor in the Electrical Engineering & Computer Science department at Santa Clara University, CA. He is a member of the Advisory Board at major universities globally. Kris has been an invited speaker at various technology conferences around the world.

Jamie Erbes: SRII Vice President

Jamie Erbes has more than 20 years of leadership, innovation and influence in networks, data centers and workflow automation. As director of Services Research in HP Labs, she is responsible for research and development of operating models, process automation and service analysis algorithms to help HP and its customers make the most of a future where we see “Everything as a Service.”

Previously, Erbes was chief technology officer for the Software and Solutions business at HP, supporting the company-wide software strategy for IT management software, business technology optimization, as well as communications and media solutions.

Erbes is a noted industry expert on automation software, cloud computing, business optimization and IT outsourcing. Her insight has appeared in publications such as Forbes, ZDNet, eWeek and The Australian.

Prior to joining EDS, she held numerous leadership roles at LoudCloud Inc., where she led the first releases of Opsware and other web-hosting automation solutions.

Rich Friedrich: SRII Vice President

Rich Friedrich is the Director of the Strategy and Innovation Office in HP Labs and reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Research. Leading a global team, he is responsible for the strategy and portfolio management of HP's central research organization, applying Open Innovation to amplify and accelerate research results, and technology transfer to effectively monetize these technologies.

Rich is an active participant in government-industry-university partnerships through such groups as the US National Academies Government-University-Industry Research Roundtable. He his on the board of advisors for four major universities including the University of Illinois and the University of California, San Diego, and is a co-inventor on fifteen patents.

Ana Pinczuk: SRII Strategy Programs V.P.

Ana Pinczuk is Vice President, Global Technical Center within the Cisco Services organization. She is responsible for a global team of 2000 professionals that deliver global technical support, define the global service experience, and partner with engineering to drive product excellence.

Ana has a diverse background, having been in Services, Marketing, Sales, Business Development, and Engineering roles throughout her professional career. Within Cisco, Ana has led diverse teams including Software Development, Test, Release Engineering, Product Management, Solution Development, Engineering IT and Technical Services.

Prior to Cisco, Ana spent 15 years at AT&T and Lucent where she held key roles such as VP of Internet Technologies responsible for development and deployment of AT&T’s Internet backbone and Sales Client Director for the JP Morgan account.

Joel Cherkis: SRII Public Sectors

Joel leads a team of business development, and technology professionals that support global policy decisions and deliver technology relevance and scalable solutions into Public Sector markets around the world. In his previous role, Joel was the General Manager of the Government Solutions team and supported industry solutions focused on Health & Human Services, Justice & Public Safety, Homeland Security, DOD initiatives, e-Government, and emerging technologies. Prior to joining Microsoft, Joel spent 9 years with Oracle Corporation where he developed businesses focused on collaboration, application services and database driven technologies for Public Sector and commercial customers. Joel has over 20 years of IT and development experience and has spent the past 10 years helping customers and partners better utilize collaborative solutions and the processes of infrastructure consolidation.

Paul Hofmann: SRII University Programs V.P.

Paul Hofmann is the Vice President, Office of the Chief Scientist, SAP Labs at Palo Alto. Before joining SAP Research Paul worked for the SAP Corporate Venturing Group. Paul joined SAP 2001 as the Director of the Global Strategic Supply Chain Management Initiative EMEA. His pre-sales team designed and rolled out the SCM Value Based Selling Approach for EMEA and supported many crucial Supply Chain sales for SAP in EMEA. Paul was Researcher and Assistant Professor at top German and US Universities, like Northwestern University and at Technical University in Munich, Germany.

Paul studied Chemistry and Physics at the University of Vienna, Austria. He received a Bachelor in biotechnology and a master's degree in Chemistry from the University of Vienna. Paul received his Ph.D.in Physics from the Darmstadt University of Technology, Germany. He is the author of numerous publications and books.

Richard Lundmark

Rickard Lundmark is the Head of Services Research at Ericsson Where he has worked for more than 14 years in various areas of Services---Services product/portfolio management, Operations management and Service Strategy & Business development. His research focus areas are--business models, services concepts, services delivery & tools and services engineering & development. Rickard holds a Masters degree in Industrial Engineering and Management from Luleå Technology University, Sweden.

Ralph Badinelli: SRII Secretary

Ralph Badinelli is a professor in the Department of Business Information Technology of the Pamplin College of Business of Virginia Tech. He received Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Management from the Krannert Graduate School of Business of Purdue University, an M.S. degree in Physics from Purdue University, and a B.S. degree in Mathematics and Physics from Hofstra University. His teaching responsibilities are in the areas of operations management and quantitative methods for business at the undergraduate, MBA and doctoral levels. He has taught many executive-development seminars on the subjects of project management, quality improvement, production and inventory control, and business strategy.

Dr. Badinelli has published refereed articles across a wide range of topics including service science, inventory control policies, revenue management, probability estimation and decision analysis.

Dr. Badinelli is a member of the Institute for Operations Research and Management Science (INFORMS), Project Management Institute (PMI) and a certified member of the Association for Operations Management (APICS), the 2010 Chairperson of the INFORMS Service Science Section and Secretary of the Service Research & Innovation Institute (SRII).

Prof. Freimut Bodendorf: SRII Academic Strategy

Freimut is head of the Department of Information Systems (Services –Processes – Information) at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (School of Management). He is member of the Supervisory board of the Regional Computing Center Erlangen, of the Executive Board of the Multimedia Technologies Committee at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, of the Executive Board of the E-Learning Committee at the University of Erlangen-Nuernberg, of the German National Association for Computer Science (Gesellschaft für Informatik, GI), of the Special Interest Group Business Informatics at the GI, of the German National Association for Higher Education in Business Management (Verband der Hochschullehrer für Betriebswirtschaft, VHB), of the Scientific Committee of the VHB, and of the International Association for Computer Information Systems.

Freimut will be playing a leadership role in building alignment between SRII and academia.

Thomas Renner: SRII Europe Strategic Advisor

Thomas Renner is the head of department responsible for a large number of information and communication technology projects at Fraunhofer. His current focus areas include the following: Cloud computing (business models, technologies, software as a service), e-business strategies, inter-organizational business networks, agile business process management and process portals as well as automation of services. Several spin-off companies have been founded based on Fraunhofer technologies and project results.

Thomas Renner has studied electrical engineering at Stuttgart University and at Oregon State University, Corvallis, USA. His work has been published in numerous papers and presentations.

Thomas will play a key leadership role in SRII Global leadership team in the areas of Cloud Services, Business Process Innovation as well as driving SRII key initiatives in Germany/Europe.

Arijit Sengupta: SRII Strategic Partners

Arijit Sengupta is the CEO of BeyondCore, the Chair of the Cloud Computing Chapter of the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP), the IAOP Ambassador for India, and a member of the Indian Cyber Security Advisory Group. BeyondCore won the Overall Most Innovative Cloud Provider award at the Up 2010 Cloud conference ahead of more than 150 firms. BeyondCore's SplitSecure Cloud Privacy solution was among the top three Cloud Infrastructure solutions at the GigaOm Structure 2011 conference. Arijit has guest lectured at Stanford and other universities on globalization and outsourcing; spoken at conferences in a dozen countries; and has been written about in The World Is Flat release 3.0, the New York Times, San Jose Mercury News, and other leading publications. Arijit held leadership positions at several eBusiness initiatives and previously worked at Oracle, Microsoft, and Yankee Group. He has received eight patents in the domains of Business Process as a Service, business process improvement, privacy and information security. Arijit holds an MBA with Distinction from the Harvard Business School and Bachelor degrees with Distinction in Computer Science and Economics from Stanford University.

Ammar Rayes

Ammar Rayes is a Senior Manager at Cisco Systems and Adjunct Professor at San Jose State University. His main areas of expertise include IP Based Smart Services, Network Management and Mobile Wireless. Prior to joining Cisco Systems, he was a Director in the Traffic Capacity Management and Planning Department at Telcordia Technologies (formally Bell Labs).

Dr. Rayes has authored/Co-authored over a hundred papers and patents on advances in numerous communications-related technologies including a book on Network Modeling and Simulation and another on ATM switching and network design . He is currently an Associate Editor of ACM Transactions on Internet Technology and served as an Advisory Board Member of the Journal of Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing. Dr. Rayes is also chairing Cisco Smart Services Patent Council and serving on Cisco University Research Program.

He received his BS and MS Degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana in 1986 and 1988, respectively. He received his Doctor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1994 where he received the Outstanding Graduate Student Award in Telecommunications.

Dr. Yan Chow

Dr. Yan Chow is the Director of Kaiser Permanente (KP) Information Technology’s Innovation & Advanced Technology Group (IAT). IAT identifies, assesses, and makes internal recommendations on new and emerging clinical information technologies that will impact health care in the next 2 to 5 years. IAT is affiliated with KP’s Sidney R. Garfield Center for Health Care Innovation, an advanced 37,000-sf laboratory for care delivery simulation.

Dr. Chow has had a successful clinical practice at KP for 26 years. For 10 of those years, he was also involved in regional IT management. Dr. Chow has founded and advised a number of start ups in the Internet, health care technology, storage, and database spaces. In 2004 he was awarded 3 U.S. patents for co-inventing a network storage architecture 2 orders of magnitude faster than competitive designs. He also developed commercial database software that accelerated very large database (VLB) processing 240-fold. He has been an author and invited speaker at industry conferences.

Dr. Chow earned his A.B. with honors from Harvard University and his M.D. from the University of California at San Diego. In 2005 he received his MBA from the University of California at Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, where he graduated as valedictorian
