Dear Service Research Professionals,

I am very honored and excited to accept this role as the President of SRII. As the Service Industry has become the largest part of the world GDP, SRII has a huge opportunity to lead and drive Service Research & Innovation to further grow Service Economy by working closely with our industry partners, institutions, professional organizations, academia as well as the government organizations around the world.


 

SRII major strategies include the following: 

 

  • Deeper understanding of Usage Models/ Future Requirements of Service Industry Verticals such as: Health care, Financial, Energy, Transportation, Government, Education, Retail, Telecom, etc.
  • Focus on major IT Service Domains/Disciplines such as: Technology Platforms, Business Process tools/models, Information Management, Service/Operation Management, Service Marketing, Human Factor Engineering, Service, etc.
  • Build Special Interest Groups (SIGs) for major Service Industry Verticals and major IT Service Domains to help develop and drive strategic IT Services Technology road map, Standards, Methodologies, Processes, Tools, Skills, Regulations, etc.
  • Build partnership/alignment with other professional Service organizations such as: IEEE, ACM, INFORMS, AMA, FRAUNHOFER, ITRI, CSIRO, NESSI, etc.
  • University Programs/Partnership to help grow future Skills/Strategy for Service Economy:

-- Service Research projects for Ph.D. students/University Research Centers

-- MS Degree in Service Science (multi disciplinary curriculum)

-- Undergraduate level Service Science Certification/ Electives 

  • SRII as a Global Professional Organization with membership from:

-- Industry (large, medium, small). 

-- Academia/ Institutions 

-- Professional organizations

-- Individual professionals

-- University students 

  •  SRII Annual Conference: 

-- SIGs face to face meeting to share road map/ execution updates

-- Meeting with leaders from the industry, academia and government organizations

 

In coming weeks we will be communicating the details of the SRII Management team responsible for driving the above SRII strategies. 

The true leadership for SRII belongs to the SIGs with the charter for defining the details of their focus areas in terms of Strategy, Road map, Execution plan, KPIs and their Communication process/tools.

Kris has over 25 years of experience in the high technology industry as well as in the academia. Currently Kris is the Strategic Programs Director for Service Research at IBM Almaden Research Center in San Jose, CA. Before IBM Research, he has worked with Intel, AMD and National Semiconductor in various technology development roles such as Director of Server Architecture & Planning and Data Center Technology at Intel, Director in the CTO Office at AMD and senior technical management roles at National Semiconductor. 

Kris is an Industry Fellow in the College of Engineering at UC Berkeley, CA and has also been an adjunct professor in the Electrical Engineering & Computer Science department at Santa Clara University, CA. He is a member of the Advisory Board for Informatics Research at the University of Manchester, UK. 

Kris has been an invited speaker at various technology conferences around the world.
