Dear SRII Colleagues,

Year 2010 has breen a great year for SRII. The SRII Global leadership team with members from the industy, academia, research institutes as well as government organizations from around the world has done an outstanding job in help defining SRII key strategies and roadmap for driving Service Research & Innovation Initiatives at the global level.

 

Following are the SRII major accomplishments for 2010:

 

 

 

SRII Global Leadership Summit at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Half Moon Bay on January 25-27, 2010:

More than 100 senior leaders from 18 different countries participated during this summit. Summit keynote speakers included Andy Becktolsheim (Founder of SunMicrosystem & several technology start up companies), Robert Morris (IBM Services Research), Lenny Mendonca (McKinsey & Company). Experts from the industry, academia and research institutes also participated on several panel sessions on key Service Research topics. 

This summit helped develop SRII overall strategy/roadmap and build SRII Global Leadership team network. The Summit detail agenda and presentations are posted on the SRII website (https://thesrii.org/index.php/digital-content) and available to all the SRII registered members (register here).

Establish SRII SIGs (Special Interest Groups) to address "mega opportunities" for industry verticals as well as horizontal technology/business domains.

The following SRII SIGs are being established:

  • SRII SIG on Cloud Services
  • SRII SIG on Healthcare IT
  • SRII SIG on Intelligent Services/ Information Management
  • SRII SIG on Service Engineering & Innovation
  • SRII SIG on Service Quality
  • SRII SIG on Mobile/Telco Services
  • SRII SIG on Environmental Services
  • SRII SIG on University Research Programs/New Curriculum development

The above SRII SIGs Scope/Strategy/Roadmap/ Deliverables will be posted on the SRII website (Q1 2011) and updated quarterly. The above details are available to all the SRII registered members (register here).

Establish SRII Global Chapters in different countries to address country specific Service Innovation agenda. 

The following SRII Global Chapters are being established: 

SRII Australia SRII Germany SRII India SRII Japan SRII Spain SRII Taiwan SRII Thailand SRII Vietnam. The above SRII Chapters Scope/Strategy/Roadmap/ Deliverables will be posted on the SRII website (Q1 2011) and updated quarterly. SRII SIGs/Chapters Annual Face to Face meeting:

All SRII SIGs/Chapters to meet face to face annually during the SRII Global Conference and share their respective updates and build team network. 

SRII partnership with major professional Organizations:

We are building collaboration and specific partnership with the following organizations:

  • IEEE: SRII Conference proceeding with IEEE & partnership with IEEE Computer Society.
  • ACM: Partnership with ACM's Information Management SIG
  • INFORMS: Partnership with INFORMS Service Science Society.

Establish SRII Annual Global Conference as "THE" Service Research & Innovation Conference at a global level:

The first SRII Global Conference is scheduled for Mar. 29---Apr. 2, 2011.

We are very pleased to have several senior executives from the industry and other key global leaders participating and speaking during this conference. Several experts from the industry and academia will also be participating on panel sessions on key Service Research Topics. We also have selected top papers to be presented from the large number of papers submitted for this conference. This Conference will host a "Research Forum" where top researchers from around the world will discuss their work in an interactive environment and build network.

My special thanks to SRII Global team members who have worked very hard and participated in the weekly conference calls for the last several months and helped build an impressive agenda for the inaugural SRII Annual Conference. It has been quite a fulfilling year for SRII. Thank you again for your contribution and leadership in the above initiatives..
